They demanded, 'By what authority do you do these things?' Have you ever been asked that—or asked it yourself?
Matthew 21:23
The moment
Jesus was teaching in the temple when the chief priests and elders confronted Him. But instead of defending Himself, He turned the question back on them.
Matthew 21:23-24
Where it points
This echoes Joseph, falsely accused and thrown into prison, yet the LORD was with him (Genesis 39:21). And Jesus, too, would be falsely accused (Matthew 26:59-60), but His humiliation led to exaltation (Philippians 2:8-9).
